Shawn is a Partner in our Saskatoon office. He was born in Melfort, Saskatchewan, but moved to Saskatoon at a relatively young age where he has stayed and completed his Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Accounting at the University of Saskatchewan. He has been working in public practice accounting since 2007 and became a Chartered Professional Accountant in early 2010. He joined Virtus Group in September of 2018.
He has experience with private businesses of all different sizes and a variety of industries – construction, professionals, real estate, financial services, automotive, retail, hospitality and more. Shawn’s focus is on accounting and assurance services, basic tax planning, general consulting/advisory services and working with firm experts on more complicated tax planning and valuation engagements.
One of Shawn’s main strengths is being analytical. He’s an accountant … isn’t every accountant analytical? What does this really mean? This means that he’ll beat your problem up behind the scenes (much more than you would ever know) and attempt to think up every possible scenario that could play out in order to come up with some options for you to consider to allow you to come to a well-informed conclusion.
When not at the office, Shawn spends time with his young family, playing recreational sports and squeezing in the occasional fishing trip up north.
